The 2015 Genesis comes powered by either a 3.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8. Both engines are modern and sophisticated and both are capable of moving the Genesis along at a good clip, though the bigger, more powerful V8 gives the car acceleration on par with many expensive sports cars. The 3.8L V6 is rated at 311 hp while the 5.0L V8 makes 420hp. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. For the first time on the Genesis, all-wheel drive will be an option, though it's only available on V6 versions. All-wheel drive adds $2500 to the price of the Genesis. The 2015 Genesis is available in one of two trims both of which line up with engine choice. The base trim is appropriate labeled as 3.8, while the upscale trim is labeled the 5.0. Being a luxury car, the Genesis, even in 3.8 trim comes packed full of equipment that is likely optional in lesser vehicles. Standard equipment includes heated mirrors, rain sensing wipers, leather seating, 12-way power adjustable heated front seats, a buyers choice of wood or metal paneling on the interior, automatic temperature control, a leather wrapped steering wheel with Bluetooth and voice command control interfaces, LED interior lighting, a proximity based entry system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink, a 4.3-inch LCD screen, a 7-speaker sound system with SiriusXM and HD radio compatibility and a navigation system, complete with 8-inch touchscreen and traffic updates. The 5.0 level trim is even more opulent and includes a 14-speaker premium stereo with speed sensing volume control, a 7-inch LCD display in the instrument panel, intelligent cruise control with full start/stop functionality, a rear sunshade, a 16-way power adjustable driver's seat, a memory system that automatically adjusts the drivers seating position to their preferences, a rearview camera, front and rear parking assist, premium leather seating surfaces, power folding and auto-dimming exterior mirrors and LED foglamps. For those that have to have it all, the 5.0 is available with what Hyundai call their ultimate package which consists of continuously adjustable shock absorbers, a heads up display system, a powered trunk lid, a 17-speaker sound system and a premium navigation system with a high definition 9.2-inch screen. Safety features include dual stage front airbags, an airbag for the driver's knees, side airbags and side curtain airbags. Anti-whiplash headrests are standard but optional safety features include a C02 sensor in the HVAC controls. Electronic stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes are also standard.
